Schweizerische Südostbahn AG becomes new member of the Alpine Mobility Association

The Alpine Mobility Association develops and provides sustainable
mobility offers for locals, employees and guests in the Gotthard region. Following Andermatt
Swiss Alps and the mobility provider mybuxi, Schweizerische Südostbahn AG (SOB) has now
also joined the association. Membership in Alpine Mobility is open to other interested parties.
Members of the Alpine Mobility Association can choose between four types of membership:
Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Dues vary in amount depending on the type, as does the
degree of say and participation. The association does not pursue any commercial purposes
and does not seek to make a profit. Members benefit in a number of ways, such as reduced
fares, their own virtual bus stops and sharing in the operating result. They also get access to
innovative, trend-setting projects in the mobility area or can actively help to design them.
Alpine Mobility is also supported by the Municipality of Andermatt. The first project was
launched on Saturday, July 3 – the pilot operation of
mybuxi
in the Andermatt region, the
flexible complement to bus and train.
Expansion of the route network in the Gotthard region
Until now, SOB trains mainly travelled in Eastern and Central Switzerland, like the Voralpen
Express from St. Gallen to Lucerne. Since the schedule change in December 2020, SOB has
been offering direct routes from Basel and Zurich to Locarno with the Treno Gottardo on the
Gotthard mountain line and thus hourly links to Göschenen with connections toward
Andermatt. By becoming a member of Alpine Mobility, SOB is taking advantage of the
opportunity to actively help shape mobility in this region. SOB believes that the new offer by
mybuxi represents great progress for the region. With its involvement in the Alpine Mobility
Association, the railway company intends to promote new forms of mobility for residents,
guest and employees in the Andermatt area.
Information about Alpine Mobility and current participants, along with details about the
various types of membership, can be found on the association’s website
alpine-mobility.ch
.
The association is open to additional members.
